Iran and Oman Reach Shipping MoU on the Strait of Hormuz

Iran and Oman have finalized the overall framework of a memorandum of understanding on commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a joint briefing on August 15 by Iran’s parliamentary national security committee and U.S. officials. According to the same briefing, the U.S. confirmed that once the agreement formally takes effect, restrictions on key Iranian ports, including Chabahar Port, will be lifted immediately. The move is likely to ease shipping conditions for heavy trucks and KD shipments moving toward the Middle East and Central Asia.
