China Heavy-Duty Truck Sales Fall 13% in October, Pass 1 Million for the Year

China's heavy-duty truck market sold approximately 92,000 vehicles in October 2026, down 13% year over year and 7% from September, according to First Commercial Vehicle Network. It was the fifth year-over-year monthly decline in 2026.

Sales for January through October nevertheless reached about 1.021 million units, up 10% from the same period a year earlier. The contrast shows that cumulative growth remained positive despite the October decline; the year-to-date increase alone does not indicate that sales were growing in every month.

New-energy heavy-duty trucks grew against the broader market decline, with their share of sales again exceeding 50%. Exports and electric trucks were important sources of support for the market. Together, these figures point to differences in performance within the sector, although they do not establish how much each segment contributed to overall sales.

For manufacturers and suppliers, the divergence makes the balance between total sales and demand for new-energy trucks an important trend to watch. Subsequent monthly figures will show whether the October decline persists and whether the new-energy share remains above half of the market.
